I've been trimming quarter cracks wrong for years and only just noticed

I was working on a horse in Boulder last month and the owner's vet pointed out my trim was making the crack spread. He showed me how I was cutting too much wall away from the center. Has anyone else had a vet or another farrier catch a bad habit you didn't know you had?

Oof, that's rough. Getting that kind of feedback can sting, but it's how we all learn. My old boss once pointed out I was setting my nails too shallow for like a year. It's wild how you can just miss something until someone shows you. Glad the vet took the time to explain it properly.

Ever think you're doing something right until someone points it out? I used to think quick trims were fine until a vet showed me the proper angle, and @iris565 is totally right about missing things. It really does take that outside look to learn.
