My shop vac filter was clogging every week until I wrapped an old pantyhose around it first
I tried cleaning the foam filter, buying the expensive paper bags, and even taping a dryer sheet over the intake, but wrapping a single layer of cheap pantyhose over the filter caught all the fine drywall dust before it reached the foam and now I only have to rinse the hose every three weeks instead of scrubbing the filter every Sunday has anyone else tried this simple trick with their vacuum?

I saw a guy on a construction forum say he uses a cheap paint strainer bag over his shop vac intake for the same reason. He said it catches all the fine dust from sanding drywall and you just shake it out or toss it when it's full. Sounded like a similar idea to the pantyhose but maybe a bit more durable if you're doing a lot of heavy dust work. Id give that a shot if I didn't have hose around.

I was honestly skeptical when I first heard about the pantyhose thing. Took me a solid year before I finally tried it and now I feel dumb for waiting so long.
