Learned a cheap trick to keep my shop vac running strong

Last month I finally got tired of my shop vac losing suction halfway through a project. I found out that putting a reusable dust bag inside the collection bin keeps the filter from clogging, and it cost me just $8 at Ace Hardware. Has anyone else tried adding a secondary filter to their vacuum?

Best trick I've done in years. I tossed a cheap cloth bag in my Rigid shop vac and it doubled the time between filter cleanings. That thing used to choke on drywall dust after ten minutes, now I can finish a whole room without stopping. Also cuts down on the dust cloud when you finally have to whack the filter outside. Eight bucks is a steal for that fix.

Ended up doing the same with my Ridgid last year and it worked way better than I expected. Even the coarse dust from framing cleanup barely clogs the filter now.
