Stuck choosing between a big spa job and my own small studio

I had to decide between taking a steady manager spot at The Oasis Spa downtown or using my savings to finally open my own place. I picked my own studio, and after six months, the rent is killing me even with twenty regular clients. Has anyone made that jump and found a way to make the numbers work before year one is up?

I hear you on the rent being the killer. "Twenty regular clients" is actually a solid start for six months in, that's the part you should focus on. The math usually doesn't work by just hoping more people walk in, you have to get those regulars to come more often or book longer services. Have you looked at adding just one small add-on service they all might buy? That's often easier than finding a whole new person.
