My boss said to never use a regular wrench on a governor rope, but I did it anyway.

He told me to always use a rope clamp for any tension work. I was in a hurry on a call in Tacoma and just used a 12 inch adjustable wrench to hold it. The rope slipped, the governor tripped, and the car got stuck between floors. It took our crew four hours to get it running again. Anyone else have a story about a simple tool rule they learned the hard way?

My old foreman in Seattle said the same thing.
