Just realized that $400 digital governor tester was a complete waste for my shop

Our building only has traction elevators from the 80s, and the thing can't even interface with the old relay logic. I'm back to using the manual tach and a stopwatch. Anyone else find modern diagnostic gear useless on older systems?

My 90s treadmill controller has the same compatibility issue.

Yeah that 90s controller compatibility is a real pain lol. I had to replace one last year and finding the right part was a nightmare. Ended up taking the old board to a local electronics repair shop. They couldn't fix it but they identified the exact voltage and pin layout for me. Ordered a generic motor controller online that matched the specs and it worked. Took some wiring but saved the whole treadmill.
