I thought my old hot air station was fine until I borrowed a friend's Quick 861DW for a tricky BGA job.

The difference in heat control and airflow was so huge that I ended up buying one myself, so what's the one tool upgrade that actually made you way faster or more consistent?

Man, a good set of flush cutters. I was using cheap ones that mangled component leads. Got a pair of Knipex ones and the clean cut every single time saves so much cleanup.

Okay but "saves so much cleanup" feels like a stretch. I mean, how bad were your old cutters? I've used the basic ones from a hobby kit for years and the leads snap off fine. Maybe it's just me but spending a ton on cutters seems like overkill unless you're doing production work all day.
