Talking with my old boss made me miss the old way of labeling panels.

I ran into Frank, who ran the shop I apprenticed at, at the supply house in Tacoma last week. He said 'You know, these new guys can't read a hand-drawn diagram to save their lives, they just want a QR code.' It hit different because I realized I've gotten lazy too, just scanning a sticker instead of really learning the layout. Anyone still drawing out their panel schedules by hand, or is that skill gone for good?

Yeah, that line about 'scanning a sticker instead of really learning the layout' is so real. I read an article about how that muscle memory from drawing it out actually helps you troubleshoot faster.

It's like we're outsourcing our brains to our phones. I used to know all my friends' numbers by heart, and now I just tap a name. That deeper knowledge just fades away when you stop using it.
