My dad told me I was using too much caulk and he was right

I always squeezed out a huge bead of caulk around my bathroom sink in Nashville thinking more was better. My dad watched me and said 'you're wasting half of it, use a smaller tip and run a steady bead.' I trimmed the nozzle at a sharper angle and only used half the tube, and the line came out way cleaner. Has anyone else had a family member call them out on a basic tool habit?

Wait isn't the whole point of caulk to fill gaps, not just slather it on like butter? I used to do the same thing with weather stripping until my uncle showed me you barely need any pressure to get a good seal. Now I measure twice and apply half as much, saves me trips to the store and looks way better.
