Time I spent a summer fighting a suction leak that wasn't even there

I was on a job near Baton Rouge last July on an old Ellicott 370. Kept seeing air bubbles in the discharge line and wasted 3 whole days checking every joint and seal. Turns out the problem was my operator error I had the dredge pump running too fast and cavitating the whole time. A guy named Ray from the yard walked by and called it out in 30 seconds. Anybody else ever chase a ghost problem like that?

You didn't fix the dredge, you just gave it a three day vacation.

Funny you mention Ray. I bet that guy has seen every kind of ghost problem out there. Sometimes it's the simple stuff we overthink that gets us.
