Learned the hard way why you check your suction line strainer after a job on the Atchafalaya

Was running a cutterhead dredge up near Morgan City last spring and everything felt fine till the pump started sounding like rocks in a blender. Shut down, found the strainer completely wrapped in old poly rope and a chunk of tire. Took us almost 3 hours to clear it out in the heat. Now I pop the cleanout on every single shift change. You guys have a routine for checking those or just wait till something goes wrong?

Hell yeah, been there. Found a whole car tire wrapped around mine once, had to cut it out with a hacksaw in the Louisiana heat.

@rileyl67 and I ended up finding half a shopping cart in ours, no idea how it got there.
