inMy first kimchi batch molded over after 3 days in the jar
Oh man, I totally get that panic when you see something weird growing on your first batch. It's so hard to tell the difference between scary mold and just normal yeast or whatever, especially when you're new to this. That is really reassuring to hear from @amy_murphy15 that scraping it off worked fine, I've heard the same thing from a few people now about kimchi being pretty resilient once it gets going. The clean spoon rule is a big one too, I think cross contamination is how most batches go bad honestly.

inSaw a guy in a coworking space in Chiang Mai using three monitors on a folding table and it held up fine
@the_barbara you're so right about that concrete floor thing. I had a cheap metal shelf unit in my garage that looked fine for two years then one day the legs just crumbled from the inside out. It dumped a whole bunch of paint cans everywhere. Moisture wicks up through the concrete and rusts everything from the bottom. Same thing happens with those folding chairs that have those little rubber feet, the metal rots right where it touches the floor. Particle board is honestly a ticking time bomb in any humid place, I've seen desks just turn into mush after one rainy season.

inThat one aluminum part that took me 6 hours to tram in
That burr under the part got me good once too, spent four hours chasing a .0003 taper before I found it. Its always the stupid little things that steal your whole day.

inCrashed my first React app because I forgot to close a tag at 2 AM
Turned the issue into a habit of always throwing a closing tag right after I open one, saves me from those late night debugging sessions. An editor that highlights matching tags helps a ton too, it shows you where the block ends before you even run it. Now I just keep a mental checklist and it cuts those dumb mistakes way down.

inJust realized that old timer's advice about hydraulic oil was spot on
Did your buddy ever meet that pipefitter Jim after he learned his lesson the hard way? My friend Dave had the SAME thing happen with an old electrician who told him to always kill the main breaker before swapping a socket, and now he has a singed eyebrow to prove he should have listened.
