Sketching on napkins led me to rethink my drafting start

Used to dive into complex CAD models right away. Got stuck on details too early. Now I do quick hand sketches of the big idea first. It helps spot issues before they're locked in. My revision rounds have dropped a lot.

Same here. How many ideas do you toss out in the sketch phase now? That mental shift is everything. It lets you be wrong for free before you waste time modeling. I fought it for years thinking it was a step back, but getting messy early saves so much clean-up later.

Disagree honestly. I've seen people get stuck in endless sketch loops trying to find a perfect idea that doesn't exist. Sometimes you just have to start building the thing to really see the problems. All that early mess can feel like busy work if you're someone who figures it out by doing.
