Question about those 'smart' dimensioning tools in CAD packages

Always thought they were a gimmick for newbies, but after forcing myself to use them on a 200-detail shop drawing set, they saved me about 4 hours. Has anyone else had a tool they hated become a staple?

So which specific smart tool did you end up using? Was it the auto-placement that snaps to the best view, or the one that chains a bunch of dims together? Trying to figure out if I should push past the initial annoyance with them.

Pushing past the initial annoyance is exactly the problem. Those four hours you saved are just time you'll spend later fixing the weird placements and broken chains when the model changes.
