I finally tried my dad's 'just use a level, don't overthink it' advice for hanging shelves

Spent $30 on a fancy laser level gadget last month and after 3 tries my shelves still looked crooked. Borrowed my dad's old 2-foot bubble level yesterday and got both shelves dead straight in 10 minutes, made me feel like an idiot honestly. Anyone else have a simple tool that just works better than the fancy upgrade?

Honestly that digital angle finder thing sounds like a nightmare. Old school tools just work.

Yeah the old bubble level just works. I tried one of those digital angle finders for hanging curtain rods and it kept giving me different readings every time I tapped it.
