I finally fixed my wonky cabinet door with a credit card trick

Had this one cabinet door that would never close right. Drove me crazy for months. Saw a video where a guy used a thin piece of plastic to shim the hinge. Grabbed an old gift card and trimmed it down. Slid it behind the hinge plate and now it closes perfect. Anyone else use random stuff as shims?

My buddy tried that credit card trick and it threw his door alignment off worse because the plastic compressed over time and sagged again after a few weeks. Did you check if the hinge screws are actually tight first?

Aw man, that's such a classic case of people looking for the quick fix instead of fixing the actual problem. It's like how everyone reaches for the duct tape first when something's rattling in their car but nobody checks if a bolt is just loose. The credit card trick is a bandaid on a bullet wound, you gotta get to the root cause or you're just gonna chase the issue around forever. People treat household problems like they're doing life hacks but forget that physics and gravity don't care about your clever workaround. Tighten those hinge screws first, then see if you even need to mess with the door stop at all.
