Unpopular opinion: cold patch bags beat the $90 bucket of hot patch goo every single time
Tried a bucket of that hot pour crack filler on my 60 foot driveway in Tulsa a month ago and it was a total mess, it never set right and tracked black tar into my garage for days. Grabbed 4 bags of cold patch at the hardware store for $18 each last weekend instead and had every crack filled in about an hour with just a tamper and a broom. The cold stuff isnt perfect either, one spot sank after the first rain, but its way easier to touch up and I dont need a torch or a kettle. Anybody got a trick for keeping the cold patch from settling after it rains or am I just supposed to tamp it harder?
