Rant: I patched cracks with the pour-in jug stuff for 3 years, now I cut them out with a grinder and never looked back
I used to just dump that self leveling crack filler straight from the jug into whatever gap I saw, and every single one of those patches popped out within a winter. Two years ago my neighbor in Boise showed me his driveway that was 8 years old with no cracks coming back, and he said the trick is you have to cut the crack into a clean channel first or nothing sticks. So now I run a diamond blade on my angle grinder down each crack, blow it out, and pack it with the sand and hot pour stuff from the hardware place on State Street. It takes me 4 times as long per crack but I have not redone a single one since I switched. Anyone else go through the grind it out phase or am I just late to this?
