Can we talk about how I used to slap cold patch in every crack and now I'm out there at 7am with a heat gun like a weirdo

For like 5 years I just dumped that $16 bucket of cold patch from Lowe's into every gap and called it done, and it would sink or pop out by the next spring every single time. Last month my neighbor Dale let me borrow his roofing torch and a trowel and showed me how to actually clean the crack out and heat the edges first, and that patch has held through two big rain storms already. The difference is night and day but now I'm standing in my driveway at 7am on a Saturday torching asphalt while people walk their dogs past me. Anyone else make the switch to hot pour or am I the only one late to this?
