Why does nobody talk about using a paper clip to fix a stripped burr adjustment screw
My hand grinder's adjustment ring got stripped about 3 weeks ago and the burr kept slipping during pour overs. I was about to drop $40 on a replacement part when I remembered an old trick from a machinist buddy. I bent a small paper clip into a U shape and wedged it into the threads, and it's been holding tight for 12 days now. Has anyone else done a hack like this or found something that lasts longer?
A paper clip? That's some serious MacGyver level stuff right there, my dude. I'm honestly impressed it lasted 12 days because I would've bet money it would pop out on the first grind. But here's the thing, a paper clip is soft metal so it's probably just getting chewed up in there and you'll be back to square one before you know it. You might want to keep that $40 replacement in your cart just in case. Still, gotta respect the hustle for saving cash while it works.
