Ditched my electric grinder for a hand crank after 3 weeks of bad brews

I kept fighting my $50 electric burr grinder, it was throwing fines everywhere and my French press got sludgy every single morning. A buddy in Portland said just get a decent hand grinder, so I tried his Hario Mini and within 2 days my coffee tasted way cleaner. I mean, yeah it takes 90 seconds of arm work, but the grind consistency is honestly better than anything I got from the plug-in. Anyone else find that the cheap electrics are more trouble than they're worth?

Wait, 90 seconds for a Hario Mini? That's wild, mine takes like 4 solid minutes for a full French press dose and I'm over here huffing and puffing like it's a workout. But yeah, totally get the sludge thing, my old $40 Cuisinart was basically a dirt maker compared to the hand crank. The fines situation is night and day, honestly it feels like a completely different drink. That said, your buddy must have arms of steel or some tiny batches, because 90 seconds sounds like a dream to me. Maybe I'm just weak, but the consistency tradeoff is still worth every second.
