Shoutout to that old mechanic at AutoZone who told me to stop using cheap oil filters
He said my engine would sludge up running those $2 filters with synthetic blend. Changed to Wix last year after my 2003 Civic hit 180k miles, and the valve train looks clean as hell. Anyone else get saved by a random parts store tip?

Buddy of mine ignored that same advice for years on his old Camry. Engine started knocking around 160k and when he finally pulled the valve cover it looked like a chocolate milkshake in there, total sludge disaster. Cost him a whole new motor.

Yeah that tracks, people always think skipping the little stuff won't matter until they're out thousands for a new engine.
