My alternator gave out on the highway near Springfield last Friday
I was driving home from work when my dash lights went dim and the battery light came on. Pulled over and checked the voltage, it was only 11.8 volts with the engine running. Had to get a tow to my garage. I'm looking at replacing it myself this weekend, any tips for dealing with the tight bolt on the back bracket? My car is a 2012 Civic.

Skip the DIY and just pay a pro to do it. That bracket bolt is a known nightmare and you could easily strip it. The money you save isn't worth the hassle and risk of getting stuck halfway done.

My cousin tried to save a few bucks replacing his own water heater. He got that exact bolt halfway out before it seized up solid. Ended up paying a plumber double to drill it out and fix the mess.
