Heard a guy at the auto parts store telling his buddy to just top off the coolant without a flush

He was saying his truck had been running hot for months and he just kept adding the green stuff. The clerk tried to warn him about mixing old and new coolant causing sludge, but he didn't listen. Has anyone in Phoenix dealt with a clogged radiator from doing this? I'm worried my neighbor is about to kill his engine.

My old Ford ran fine with mixed coolant for years.

Remember my Chevy that ran on mixed coolant? It's why I drive a Toyota now.
