Changed my mind after visiting that auto parts store on 5th
Honestly, I always thought buying brake pads at the dealer was worth it for quality. But I stopped by AutoZone on 5th last week and talked to the counter guy for like 10 minutes. He showed me a set of ceramic pads for $45 that had the same specs as the $120 ones from the dealership. I figured I'd try them and they stopped my Civic just as good after bed-in. Has anyone else had luck with store brand parts over OEM?

I was at the same AutoZone on 5th a couple months ago buying wiper blades and the guy there spent 15 minutes helping me pick out the right ones for my truck. It's funny how you trust the dealership for everything until you actually talk to someone who works with parts every day and knows their stuff. To me this fits into this bigger pattern I've been noticing where the "official" thing isn't always better, it's just more expensive because of the name on the box. Same thing happens with phone chargers at the Apple store versus a good Anker one from Amazon for half the price. You ever notice how the generic brands are catching up way faster than they used to?
