Nearly flooded my basement trying to solder a copper pipe joint after watching one YouTube video

I was at my buddy's place in Phoenix last Saturday fixing a leak under his sink, but I forgot to clean the flux off before heating and it dripped everywhere, took me three tries with a wet rag to stop the sizzling and get the joint to seal right, has anyone else had a rookie mistake like that mess up a simple repair?

Doubt it's that big a deal, flux drips happen all the time.

Read somewhere that even small drips can crack boards if they pool under the card.
