Blew out my rear derailleur on a Monday commute, fixed it for $14
Last Tuesday I hit a pothole on 5th Street and my rear derailleur hanger bent so bad the chain jammed between the cassette and spokes. I was 3 miles from home with no tools, so I walked the bike to a nearby shop and they quoted me $60 for a new hanger plus labor. Instead I ordered a replacement hanger online for $14 and watched a YouTube video from a guy in Ohio, took about 40 minutes with a hex wrench and a zip tie to true it up. Anyone else dealt with a bent hanger and found a cheap way to straighten it without a special tool? I'm still nervous about it happening again on my daily route.

$60 is robbery for a part that costs 14 bucks, good call.
