Hit 50 coffee shop work sessions this year and it felt weirdly special
I counted up my check-ins on a whim and realized I've worked from 50 different cafes across 12 cities since January. It hit me that I've basically built a routine out of chaos - has anyone else hit a random number like this that made being untethered feel real?

That number makes my 30 different coffee shops last year feel slacking.

...and honestly I don't get treating a coffee shop count like some kind of life achievement. It's just caffeine and wifi, man. @tyler_hernandez I'd say your 30 is fine because who's actually keeping score? I've probably been to 50 different coffee shops too but mostly because my car's AC broke and I needed a place to kill time while the shop fixed it. Counting them feels like tracking how many different gas stations you've pissed at. It's not a sign of a meaningful life, it's a sign you can't sit still for five minutes.

Yeah @tyler_hernandez, glad I'm not the only one who's weirdly proud of a coffee shop count. There's something about hitting a random milestone like that that makes you stop and realize how your life is actually structured. It's like noticing all those little routines we don't think about add up to something real, even if they look scattered from the outside. I've started seeing it in other stuff too, like the number of different sidewalks I've walked on this year or how many corner stores I've bought a soda from. It's a quiet way of proving you exist in more than one place.
