Spent 3 years torquing head bolts in the wrong sequence before a retired guy at the shop in Denver pointed it out
He watched me do one and just said 'you're gonna warp that block doing it that way' and showed me the factory manual. How many of you learned the hard way from an old-timer calling you out?

Man, I've seen people torque things out of order for years and never had a problem. Is it really that big a deal for a head gasket job or are we just being overly careful? Seems like the old timers make a bigger deal out of it than it actually is.

Have you ever thought about whether it messes with the head gasket's seating over time, not just right after the job?
