Just realized my injector return lines were leaking for 6 months before I caught it

I spent 3 weekends chasing a hard start issue on my 7.3 Powerstroke before a buddy stopped by and spotted fuel weeping from the return line between the number 3 and 4 injectors, and has anyone else had these little rubber lines cause way more trouble than they should?

Number 8 is always the one nobody checks first.

Man, I feel your pain on that one... "fuel weeping from the return line" is exactly how mine started too. I chased a hard start on my 7.3 for almost a month, replaced the glow plugs and relay, even swapped the fuel filter housing gaskets, and felt like a fool when I finally saw that tiny little crack at the number 8 injector. Those rubber lines just dry out and get brittle over time, and they'll make you think you've got a major injection problem when it's really just a ten dollar fix. I ended up replacing all of them with the braided lines from Riffraff and haven't touched them since, but man that first time finding the leak took forever.
