Just dropped $900 on a used injector puller set - not sure if i got burned
I picked up a OTC 7050 injector puller set off a guy near Nashville for $900 cash. Looked barely used but after pulling three 6.7 Powerstroke injectors with it, I'm wondering if I should have just rented one from the parts store instead. The slide hammer feels a bit sloppy on the last one, maybe it's just me but does anyone else think these kits get overpriced on the used market?

Man I used to be the guy who thought buying used specialty tools was always the smart play. But after borrowing a buddy's injector puller that felt just like that, I'm starting to think you're right, maybe the rental route makes more sense for how often most of us actually need this stuff.

I mean, your buddy's injector puller feeling just like that is basically the mechanic version of trying on your friend's jeans and realizing they somehow fit worse than your own. Idk maybe it's just me but I've definitely spent $80 on a used tool I used exactly once and then it sat in my drawer for three years judging me. At this point my toolbox is basically a museum of bad decisions and I'm here for it.
