Finally tracked down that phantom oil leak on a 6.7 Powerstroke after a solid week of hunting

Turned out to be a tiny crack in the valley pan gasket that only seeped under high boost. Anyone have a trick for spotting those without pulling the turbo first?

Man, those valley leaks are the worst. I fought a similar ghost leak on my old 6.4. What finally showed it was cleaning everything bone dry with brake cleaner, then dusting the whole valley with baby powder. The oil would wick through the powder and leave a perfect trail right back to the source when I got on the boost. Saved me from tearing down a bunch of stuff for nothing.

Careful with brake cleaner on hot parts though, that stuff can flash off and cause a fire. Baby powder trick is still solid.
