Shoutout to that one time MFA saved my butt at Starbucks

I was sitting at a Starbucks in downtown Austin last month, working on my laptop while sipping a latte. Got a weird notification on my phone asking to approve a login to my email from someone in Russia. Turns out I had left my password saved on a public wifi network, but my two-factor app blocked them cold. Has anyone else had a close call like that with MFA?

Have you been using two-factor for a while now? I had a similar scare last year when someone tried to get into my bank account from India, and the text alert popped up before they could do any damage. It really makes you appreciate those extra few seconds it takes to type in a code.

MFA saved me from a creepy situation where someone cloned my SIM card. They had my phone number but couldn't get past the authenticator app since it's tied to the device itself. Makes me wonder if we're focusing too much on SMS codes when authenticator apps are way more secure.
