Found a DNS filter setting that blocked my roommate's torrent traffic

My roommate kept getting copyright notices from our ISP and I was fed up with the blame game. I tried a bunch of stuff, firewall rules, port blocking, nothing stuck. Then I set up a local DNS filter on our router that specifically blackholes known torrent tracker domains. Took about 40 minutes on a Saturday and I used a free list from GitHub to get the tracker addresses. First week after that, zero notices, and he thought the internet was just slow for a bit. He finally asked what I did and now he just streams stuff legally. Anyone else running a DNS filter for shared households or is that too much control?

Did you just keep the DNS filter running after that, or did you take it off once he switched to legal streaming? I've done the same thing with a housemate before, it's honestly the least drama way to handle it lol.
