My coworker in Miami said she books interior cabins on purpose and now I'm second guessing my balcony habit
We were sitting at the port in Miami waiting to board a 7 night Eastern Caribbean run and she mentioned she hasn't paid for a balcony in 5 years, just puts that $800 toward excursions and a drink package instead. Her point was you're barely in the room anyway, but I keep thinking about that morning coffee on the balcony watching us pull into St. Thomas. So which is it, are balconies a waste of money or is the view actually worth the extra cash?

Keep in mind the price gap is usually not that $800 she quoted, since balcony vs interior on a lot of 7 night runs is more like $200 to $400 per person. That still leaves plenty for drinks, so it comes down to whether you actually sit out there.
