Vent: My old way of spotting a load was costing me minutes on every pick
For years I just used my eyes and a hand signal, but last month a new guy on the crew in Tacoma showed me his laser pointer setup. I tried it on a steel beam lift, and we went from a 15 minute setup and check to under 5. The difference was having a clear, bright dot the rigger could see from 80 feet away in full sun. Anyone else made a small gear change that cut a ton of time off a routine job?

What brand of laser pointer did he have, and how is it mounted? I've looked at a few but they always seem cheap and the mounts break. A solid setup that can take jobsite abuse is hard to find.

It's the same with so much stuff now. You pay for the "pro" version and it still feels like it's made of brittle plastic.
