Tried ratchet straps to hold a load steady on a windy day and it actually worked better than chains

Been fighting with chains all week on a job site near the coast. Wind was gusting hard and my usual setup kept shifting. Lost an hour resecuring the second pick. Foreman told me to try ratchet straps as a temp fix. Figured it would snap but the load stayed put for three more lifts. Has anyone else used straps for windy conditions or am I just lucky so far?

Funny you mention that, I used to think straps were just for light loads and would never hold in real wind. Then last month we had a big steel beam that kept slipping in chains on a gusty day. Tried two heavy duty ratchet straps crossed over the top and it didn't budge a millimeter for three more picks. Total game changer for me.
