A simple rigging plan turned into a two day fight with a stuck load
I was on a site in Charlotte moving a big generator. The plan was to lift it, swing it over a low wall, and set it down. We got it off the ground fine, but when we started the swing, the load hung up on a steel beam we all missed. It was maybe three inches of contact, but it was stuck solid. What should have been a three hour job took two full days. We had to bring in a second crane to lift from the other side and free it. Has anyone else had a small clearance issue blow up a whole schedule like that?

Yeah, that "three inches of contact" is all it takes. I mean, I've spent half a day on a lift that was just barely kissing a pipe.

Wait, really? I've seen lifts slip with way more contact than that... maybe it's the type of pipe or something.
