Shoutout to the person who told me to sort my Stardew chests by color

A random commenter on a screenshot thread last month said color coding beats category sorting, and I figured they were just weird. After my fall harvest got buried under 40 starfruit and a stack of fiber, I finally tried it. Now my sheds look like a rainbow and I find my ancient fruit wine in seconds. Has anyone else ditched the "normal" system and found it actually calms your whole farm vibe?

Whoa, okay wait. So you're telling me you actually organize by like, the actual hue of the jar or the crop itself? Like, are you putting your salmonberries next to your cranberries because they're both red, even though one is a forage item and one is a fall crop? Because that would drive me absolutely insane when I'm trying to grab stuff for a recipe mid-festival. Do you keep a separate chest for like, "warm colors" and "cool colors" or is it a full spectrum thing where you gotta remember the exact spot between the oranges and the purples? I'm lowkey curious if the time you save finding wine is canceled out by the time you lose hunting for a specific type of fish.
