Vent: I saw a client's hair go from fried to healthy in 3 months just by ditching heat styling, but is that really sustainable for most people?
I had a client who stopped using any hot tools and switched to air drying with a leave-in conditioner and her ends looked amazing by month three, but I'm wondering if the trade off in styling time and versatility is worth it for the average person or if we're just chasing an unrealistic ideal here what do you all think?

Honestly, I'm with you on this. I've seen the same thing with a few of my own friends who went cold turkey on heat and their hair looked incredible, but they pretty much gave up on having any kind of styled look for months. @kaiharris made a good point about the towel turban and oil, that low maintenance approach is probably the only way it sticks long term. I just think the whole "no heat ever" standard we see online sets people up to feel bad about normal life choices, like rushing out the door with damp hair in winter. It's a trade off for sure, and I'm not sure most people are willing to lose the versatility for perfect ends. Do you think there's a middle ground that actually works for most folks?

I read somewhere that a lot of people in Japan just use a towel turban and a little oil instead of heat and their hair is usually in great shape. Maybe it's just me but I think the key is finding a few low maintenance styles that work for your texture so you don't feel like you're missing out. Air drying is way easier in the summer too, so it might be more sustainable depending on the weather where you live.
