Discovered that mixing 10% purple shampoo into my regular wash really helps brassiness
I had a client with stubborn yellow tones after a bleach job last month, and nothing seemed to tone it down. On a whim I added a dollop of purple shampoo to her regular sulfate-free wash and left it for 5 minutes, and the difference was night and day. Has anyone else found a simple mix that works better than using straight toner?

Wait, did you use sulfate-free shampoo just because you mixed the purple in? I've been doing this for years but with cheap drugstore shampoo and it works exactly the same. The purple pigment does the heavy lifting, not the base formula.

Right? "The purple pigment does the heavy lifting" is exactly what I tell everyone. I just grab whatever cheap shampoo is on sale at the grocery store, mix in a good dollop of purple dye, and my brassiness is gone in like two washes. The expensive stuff might smell nicer but it's definitely not doing the work.
