Strange timing" is putting it lightly, right? The anthrax attacks happen right after 9/11, and then the Patriot Act gets pushed through in like a month. I mean, those letters were supposedly mailed around the same time Congress was debating the bill. It's just too convenient that a bioterrorism scare gives lawmakers the perfect excuse to ram through surveillance laws with zero pushback. And remember how the FBI couldn't even find the real culprit for years, but they sure used those attacks to justify all sorts of new powers. Makes you wonder what gets swept under the rug in the name of "national security.
