Got told to stop hoarding the drill bits... and they were right

Someone in my library pointed out that I was keeping the most common sizes in my own bag instead of donating them to the shared box. Felt defensive at first but honestly they were right. Now we have 3 sets of 1/4 to 1/2 inch bits that anyone can grab. Has anyone else had to adjust how they contribute after feedback from a member?

...and my buddy Dan did the same thing at his makerspace with sandpaper. He had like 20 sheets of 220 grit stashed in his cubby because he liked having it handy for his woodworking projects. The board basically told him the same thing and now there's a sandpaper station that actually stays stocked.

That part about "now there's a sandpaper station that actually stays stocked" really hit me. It shows how little things like that can set off a chain reaction. I've seen the same thing happen at our local makerspace with tape measures and utility knives. Someone hordes them in their cubby because they're afraid they won't be there when needed, then the board gets involved and suddenly there's a whole checkout system nobody asked for. It's like trust is the real thing that's missing, not the stuff itself. @nathanburns, your buddy Dan getting called out for the sandpaper stash probably improved the workshop for everyone in the long run. That kind of honest confrontation usually does more good than people want to admit upfront.
