Warning: I hit 100 ignored 'just be yourself' comments on my advice posts and it's a problem.

That number matters because generic platitudes actively hurt people looking for real, specific help, so what's the worst piece of cookie-cutter advice you've seen given here?

My buddy got told to "just be yourself" before a date and showed up in his pajamas, lol.

Yeah, "just be yourself" needs some context... I always tell my friends it means don't pretend to like hiking if you hate it. But you still gotta put on real pants and try to be your best, polite self for a couple hours. It's about being honest, not being lazy.
