Pro tip: check your drysuit valves before the season starts

I was talking to an old dive supervisor out of Port Fourchon last week who told me he spends 30 minutes on valve maintenance before every 6-month rotation. He showed me a seized inflation valve that nearly got a guy in trouble on a 100-foot wreck job. Makes me wonder how many of us just jump in without checking that stuff first.

30 minutes before every rotation seems like overkill unless you're diving wrecks every day. Most of us aren't pushing that kind of depth, so maybe it's not as dire for recreational use.

A seized valve at 100 feet is a bad day no matter what you're diving. 30 minutes every 6 months is basically nothing compared to the risk of a free flow at depth. Recreational or not, gear checks save lives.
