Unpopular opinion: I don't regret spending $400 on a graded slab

Everyone says slabbing is a waste for modern books, but I got a 9.8 of that first Miles Morales Spider-Man issue done. It cost me about four hundred bucks total after grading and shipping. For me, it's not about resale value, it's about preserving the book exactly as I bought it for my collection. I see it as a display piece, not an investment. Has anyone else actually been happy with a slab purchase?

Actually makes perfect sense. People pay way more for a fancy frame for a poster. It's the same idea. You're just paying to have it sealed up nice and protected forever. The value is in how it makes you feel looking at it, not what someone might pay later. That's a solid way to collect.

Does that mean my old lunchbox collection is finally worth something?
