PSA: My turn on fan gripes about artwork changes

I used to shrug off complaints about different artists on a series... but a new run with messy panels has me siding with the critics now.

Seriously, sloppy art makes dialogue hard to follow.

The Walking Dead comic had like six different artists over its run and it never hurt the story. A fresh art style can actually save a series from getting stale. Sometimes what people call messy is just a new artist trying something different with the pacing. If every panel was perfectly clean and identical, comics would get boring fast. The writing carries more weight than people admit, and we should let artists take risks.

Remember reading about how manga artists often change styles between arcs. It keeps things feeling fresh and matches the story's mood shifts. A rigid look can make a long series feel stuck in one place.
