My pull list used to be just whatever looked cool on the rack
Back in high school I'd literally flip through the first 5 pages at the shop and grab anything with a shiny cover or a character I vaguely recognized. Now I'm 34 and I actually check who's writing and doing art before I buy, and I stick to like 4 titles a month max. The switch happened around 2018 when I realized I had a longbox full of junk I never read twice. Anyone else go from buying everything to being super picky about creators?

Was it a specific book that made you realize you had to tighten up your pull list, or was it more gradual like you described? I pared down around the same time and for me it was Bendis leaving Marvel that made me stop buying just because a writer's name was attached. Curious if you had a similar moment or just woke up one day looking at that longbox full of regret.

Oh man, the Bendis leaving Marvel thing is so real. For me it was when Tom King wrapped up his Batman run I had been buying literally everything he wrote for like 3 years. @caseyfox when I finally looked at my longbox and realized I had 20 issues of random stuff from writers I used to love but hadn't even cracked open I felt so dumb. Now I only pull 5 books a month and actually read them instead of just hoarding.
