I thought the whole 'collector grading' thing was a total scam until I saw a CGC 9.8 copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 sell for over $100,000.
Now I'm torn between thinking it's a smart way to protect value and believing it's just made-up numbers that gatekeep the hobby, so what's your take on grading services?

Saw a video where a guy cracked open a slab to press a book and regrade it. The grade went up, but the whole thing felt kinda silly.

That slab cracking video price.logan mentioned is wild. Spending all that money just to chase a number on a label misses the point of collecting. The whole hobby starts to feel fake when people do that.
