A collector at a con told me my bag and board setup was ruining my comics
I thought I was doing everything right, but this guy named Dave at a small show in Austin pointed out I was using the wrong size boards. He said my comics were getting bent along the spine because the boards were too short. Now I buy boards that are a half inch taller for my Silver Age books. Has anyone else gotten storage tips from random strangers that actually saved their collection?

That half inch tip from Dave is solid, but just a heads up, Silver Age books actually need boards that are a full inch taller to keep the spine safe.

Start flipping through your books regularly even if you think they're stored fine. I had a run of Amazing Spider-Man that looked perfect for years until I noticed the bottom corners were slowly curling from humidity in my basement. Got a cheap dehumidifier and now I check my long boxes every season. Paper is weird - it can be doing fine today and wrecked tomorrow without you touching it.
